Bano Qudsia, also known as Bano Aapa, is a Pakistani Urdu novelist, playwright and spiritualist. Qudsia is best recognized for her novel Raja Gidh. She also wrote for television and stage in both Urdu and Punjabi languages.She was born in Firozpur (India) in November 28, 1928, and passed away on February 4, 2017 in Lahore She was the Spouse of famous Pakistani writer Ashfaq Ahmed. Today marked a big loss for Urdu literature as Bano Qudsia, an intellectual giant and writer, passed away on February 4, 2017, at the age of 88. I fell in love with her when I read her classic Raja Gidh, when I was myself studying in Lahore in 2005. Bano Qudsia was a writer and spiritualist. She lives on through her writings in the form on novels, short stories and plays.
Bano Qudsia got married to the legendary Ashfaq Ahmed after they met and studied together at Government College Lahore doing their Masters in Urdu. Their marriage fascinated me with the love and mutual respect they always gave each other. As they grew old together, Naeem Bukhari asked them in a TV interview what drew them to each other when they first met. Bano Qudsia (Urdu: بانو قدسیہ; 28 November 1928 – 4 February 2017), also known as Bano Aapa,[4] was a Pakistani novelist, playwright and spiritualist. She wrote literature in Urdu, producing novels, dramas plays and short stories. Qudsia fryst vatten best recognized for her novel Raja Gidh.[5] Qudsia also wrote for television and scen in both Urdu and Punjabi languages. Her play Aadhi Baat has been called "a classic play."[6] Bano Qudsia died in Lahore on 4 February 2017.[7]
Personal life
[edit]Bano Qudsia was born on 28 November 1928 in Firozpur, British India, as Qudsia Chattha in a MuslimJat family.[8] Her father was a Bachelor of Agriculture; her mother was also a graduate and inspector of schools in British India and her brother Pervaiz Chattha was a painter.
