Sharona Coutts: In all the world’s hot spots, the war zones, the developing nations, the resource-rich badlands, the countries run by tyrants or madmen, there’s risky business going on. And some of it is very big business indeed: dams, pipelines, nuclear power stations, many in places where the political climate is, let’s say, tricky.
When millions, or sometimes billions are involved, who on earth would put their money into these high risk ventures? Well the projects wouldn’t go ahead at all if they weren’t underwritten by public money.

A less sexy name is Export Credit Agencies. It’s a boring term for what are essentially loans and insurance, and the money involved makes them much bigger, and therefore more influential than the World Bank and IMF.

Meet the Staff
I grew up in West Dorset and, following a brief spell living on the Isles of Scilly, went to Aberystwyth University, gaining a BA (Hons) degree in History. Following this, and knowing that I had always wanted to teach, I trained at the University of Exeter, St. Luke’s. inom was appointed as a History teacher in 2015 in a highly deprived area of West Somerset, and spent nearly 10 years there in a variety of roles. Initially, I became Second in Department, which further developed my understanding of the pedagogy surrounding teaching History. I then became Head of Year before being appointed Assistant Headteacher in 2019. During my time on the Leadership grupp, I held a range of responsibilities, including Teaching and Learning across the school, and later lärling behaviour, anställda development and welfare. During this time, we were able to move the school forward, and it was recognised as ‘Good’ by Ofsted in 2022, following a period in Special Measures.

Rashid Johnson
Born in Chicago in 1977, Rashid Johnson is among an influential cadre of contemporary American artists whose work employs a wide range of media to explore themes of art history, individual and shared cultural identities, personal narratives, literature, philosophy, materiality, and critical history. Johnson received a BA in Photography from Columbia College in Chicago and studied for his masters at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Johnson's practice quickly expanded to embrace a wide range of media—including sculpture, painting, drawing, film making, and installation—yielding a complex multidisciplinary practice that incorporates diverse materials rich with symbolism and personal history. Johnsons work is known for its narrative embedding of a pointed range of everyday materials and objects, often associated with his childhood and frequently referencing aspects of history and cultural identity.
