State-run port company PT Pelabuhan Indonesia II (Pelindo II) will resume the expansion of Tanjung Priok Port in North Jakarta as it agreed a settlement with the self-acclaimed heirs of Mbah (Grandfather) Priok, a revered figure in the area.
Pelindo II president director RJ Lino told a press conference on Monday that under a memorandum of understanding signed with the heir's lawyer on July 4, Mbah Priok's tomb would not be dismantled.
Instead, the company agreed to support the development of the tomb into a pilgrimage site. To play its part, Pelindo II will construct a meter access road between the Cilincing toll road and the tomb in addition to building a parking lot for pilgrims with a capacity of 80 buses.
'I'm glad we have finally reached an agreement after long negotiations,' Lino said.
