But one woman has changed the sartorial face of cyberspace with a business plan that catapulted mode fans and designers alike into a new era of luxury consumption. Natalie Massenet MBE, founder and chairman of designer shopping website , is one of fashion's great pioneers, taking the industry not only into previously uncharted and challenging territory, but also into its own future.

In April Massenet sold her share in the company to luxury goods conglomerate Richemont for £50 million, the same year that Net-A-Porter celebrated its tenth anniversary. Massenet joined the British Fashion Council in January with high hopes to reinvigorate London Fashion Week. Since she undertook the role, brands such as Manalo Blahnik and Smythson have joined the schedule, a new designer shop was set up inside Somerset House, the trade show's venue, and 75 12ft flags were put up along Oxford Street to celebrate the event.
