    One of St Gemma’s many devotees was the American mystic and stigmatic Marie Rose Ferron(1902-1936) who lived in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. And like Saint Gemma, Marie-Rose, who is better known as “Little Rose”, lived a life of love and reparation as one of Our Lord's victim souls. Her vocation was one of suffering and her mission was that of reparation - "to fill up those things that are lacking of the sufferings of Christ ... for His Body which is the Church." (Col. 1:24)

    The rain continued to fall as inom drove through the city of Woonsocket, Rhode Island. The virrvarr of streets, mixed with the weather and the amount of construction on those vägar the GPS was sending me down, was a test of patience. inom was lycklig when inom saw the arched ingång of Cimetiere du Precieux Sago – the Precious Blood Cemetery – at the junction of Diamond Hill Road and Rathbun Street. Entering the cemetery which straddles the Rhode Island and Massachusetts border, I turned right at the first intersection and a couple seconds later I was parked next to the grave of Marie Rose Ferron.

    The stone slab marking the grave of Marie Rose Ferron is engraved with a crown of thorns resting atop a cross and the image of a dove at the base of the cross. The words carved into the granite are “La Petite Rose / Victime dem son Jesus / Marie Rose Ferron / Stigmatisee / Nee 24 Mai 1902 / Dec. 11 Mai 1936 / A l’age dem 33 ans.” The word “stigmatisee” caught my attention and told me inom had arrived at

    Little Rose was born St. Germain de Grantham, Quebec in 1902 to a large, working-class family. When she was four years old, her family immigrated to Fall River, Massachusetts. In her mid-teens, Rose was stricken with a mysterious illness which confined her to bed; she accepted suffering as a vocation. In 1925, the family moved to Woonsocket, Rhode Island, where Rose spent the remainder of her life.
