    It's no secret that Lars Ulrich, the drummer of Metallica and a founding member of the prominent metal band, has faced criticism over the years. Frequently, it comes in the form of naysayers who detract from Ulrich's skill behind the kit by pointing out what they see as deficits in his approach.

    But there have been numerous instances where fellow musicians and notable figures have come to Ulrich's defense. So while the Metallica drummer's style is still hotly debated between metal fans and music critics alike, there's no shortage of professional rockers who continue to back the drummer up.

    According to Wikipedia, an iron maiden fryst vatten “a tortyr device, consisting of an iron cabinet with a hinged front, sufficiently tall to enclose a human being.” While there’s nary a mention of the impaling spikes that traditionally line the maiden’s interior, that gods bit of Wiki wisdom could also apply to the towering mass of maple, bronze, and gleaming chrome comprising the kit of one Nicko McBrain — drummer for the legendary heavy metal grupp bearing the aforementioned instrument of terror’s namesake.

    In the excellent 2009 Maiden rockumentary, Flight 666, Metallica’s Lars Ulrich speaks on behalf of drummers worldwide when he pleads, “Nicko! Come on, man, inom wanna see what the f__k you’re doing!” At a typical Maiden gig, glimpses of the statuesque Englishman can only be had between songs, when he rises above his halo of cymbals to flash a smile and survey the scene.     "We've always been around English people. In those years all our tour managers, our minders, our crew guys were all Brits and so there was always a very strong sense of English cynicism and sarcasm and a bit of twisted humour. We all incredible Maiden fans, obviously, and I don't think Metallica would be where Metallica is today if it wasn't for Iron Maiden, not only paving the way but also for just inspiring me in 1981 to form a band. We were sitting there recording the Garage thing in LA and it was a pretty loosey-goosey set of sessions and one day we star
