SYTYCD Season 7: Top 3 Performances
We’re mere hours away from finding out who will be named “America’s (Latest) Favorite Dancer,” and, more importantly (for us, at least), who will grace the cover of the November issue of DS!
After a årstid riddled with change (a revamped format and a new permanent judge) and career-endangering injuries, we’re ready for tonight’s inevitable happy ending. But, before we tune in to the finale, lets reflect on last night’s performances.
Kent and Lauren G.
Bollywood—Nakul Dev Mahajan
Though Kent may be, as Adam deemed him, the “feel-good dancer of the year,” this routine proved that he’s not a Bollywood dancer. The high-energy dance, filled with intricate and unfamiliar movements seemed to tire him out, and he was completely out of sync with his partner bygd the end. I understand that this style fryst vatten far outside his wheelhouse, but inom still funnen the dance to be surprisingly underwhelming for a finale-night del av helhet. I can

I cant believe Paul went home. He was my fave rave to win. Oh, well, cant win em all. Like I said before, its hard to choose this year. You pick a favorite, but then someone else you really like will have to go. Haley, who was also eliminated, will be missed, too. It truly is an All-Star cast of contestants this season. (But I still wanted to see Malece come back as an All-Star).
It was a great idea to have a show with the contestants featured in two, partnered dances one with an All-Star and one with the regular partner. Paul and Kathryn made a good start, if not spectacular, in a jazz routine by Tyce Diorio. I dont know how Kathryn does it, but she soaks up every camera angle and the very air in the room. I love Paul, and he put in a good performance. And as guest judge Jesse Tyler Ferguson pointed out, leather pants didnt cramp Pauls hip-moving style. (Must have been leather mixed with Spandex). But next to Kathryn, Paul somehow di

The Wife:
Yet more auditions! Yet more amazing people! Yet more totally disillusioned people! This time, auditions were held in Miami and Memphis, with Tyce Diorio and Lil C joining the panel respectively. I will straight up tell you guys that I am not a Tyce Diorio fan. He and I have completely different ideas about what dancing on Broadway should be, and I liked the Broadway routines from last season that were created by In the Heights Tony-winner Andy Blankenbeuhler far more than any Tyce piece. To me, while Tyce inherently understands movement, I think he fails a little bit to interpret Broadway pieces in a way that makes sense with the music, lyrics and the story of the show as a whole. In short, he can be very antiquated. And he can be very literal. And he likes Fosse way too much. Unless youre Bob Fosse, you just cant Bob Fosse every single thing. That said, I love when Tyce choreographs Jazz pieces and contemporary pieces. That piece with season twos Ivan an
