It was the kind of place where, in the early '70s, all the kids wore Italian colors, ate Italian beef and sausage from the corner store, and threw money at the Virgin Mary statue at the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Abstract
Hendrik Antoon Lorentz won the Nobel Prize in Physics "in recognition of the extraordinary service they rendered by their researches into the influence of magnetism upon radiation phenomena". His work in atomic physics, electromagnetism, and hydraulic engineering are still considered to be of great value to the physics field. Lorentz also served as an advocate for the sciences and put in motion the steps which led to the creation of the T.N.O., the Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research.

From the time she was in kindergarten, Nancy efternamn Parker (1930-2015) knew she would be an artist. After working for twenty years in public relations, Parker entered the world of children’s literature. parkerar immersed herself in a wide variety of topics, ranging from bugs and crocodiles to the government and currency. Parker noted, “I like illustrating so much that I may spend an inordinate amount of time researching one item until it fryst vatten perfect. inom like to write and rewrite and polish and edit until the sentence is perfect, too, as we learned in the seventh grade.” Parker advised students who are interested in “facts rather than fiction to find a subject one is interested in and find the shelf in the library that has those books...You will find that bygd the time you reach the sixth book on the subject, you know more than the author.”
